(3) Confirmation letters regarding the exchange of important information, along with contact details of key stakeholders (e.g., the person in charge of the exhibit‑transportation company, the person responsible for poster printing, etc.).
04 , Entry Guidelines
1. Effective from 00:00 hours on November 1, 2023, travelers entering or leaving the country are no longer required to complete the “People’s Republic of China Health Declaration Form for Entry/Exit.” However, any traveler presenting symptoms of infectious diseases—such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or unexplained subcutaneous bleeding—or who has already been diagnosed with an infectious disease must proactively make a health declaration to customs and cooperate with customs in undergoing temperature screening, epidemiological investigations, medical examinations, sample collection for testing, and other health quarantine measures. Failure to disclose such information or evasion of quarantine will result in corresponding legal liability; if such actions lead to the spread of a quarantinable infectious disease or pose a serious risk of transmission, criminal liability may be imposed.
2. Upon entering the United Kingdom, you will be required to undergo immigration clearance and customs declaration. Cabin crew will distribute entry cards and customs declaration forms on board; please complete them accurately based on your circumstances. After arriving at the airport, if you have items to declare or are unsure whether they need to be declared, please proceed through the red channel. You may set aside any items requiring declaration after collecting your baggage for easier presentation. Passengers with no items to declare should use the green channel.
3. Upon entering the United Kingdom, UK border control points offer British passport lanes, EU country lanes, and other passport lanes; Chinese citizens should choose the “Other Passport Lane.”
05 , Travel Guide
1. Bring your original passport, invitation letter, valid visa, flight itinerary, and other relevant personal documents. Prepare paper copies in advance and carry them with you; do not place them in your checked luggage under any circumstances.
2. Bring an ample supply of brochures, posters, and other materials.
3. Mobile phone (with international roaming enabled), charger, power bank, and travel adapter.
4. Bring your toiletries and necessary clothing, and pack some of your regular medications—such as gastrointestinal remedies, allergy pills, fever reducers, and pain relievers—for emergencies.
5. Please do not place computers, batteries, or power banks in your checked baggage.
6. The United Kingdom is 8 hours behind China; the time there is Beijing Time minus 8 hours.
7. Official language: English.
8. In March, temperatures in the UK typically range from 6°C to 17°C, with average daytime highs around 17°C. It’s advisable to wear layered, warm clothing such as suits, light jackets, trench coats, and thin sweaters. For business meetings or more formal visits, be sure to bring formal attire. However, the British weather can be unpredictable, and spring showers are often brief; carrying an umbrella or raincoat is essential.
9. Currency: The official currency of the United Kingdom is the British pound (GBP). It’s advisable to exchange a reasonable amount of pounds while still in China. 1 RMB ≈ 0.11 GBP (recent exchange rate, for reference only). When traveling to the UK, you may carry no more than £10,000 in cash; amounts exceeding this must be declared at customs. For shopping, you can use UnionPay cards or credit cards bearing the Visa or Mastercard logo—these are accepted at most department stores, hotels, and restaurants. To obtain British pounds, you can make an advance appointment with a domestic bank. Exchange services are also available at UK banks, post offices, major shopping centers, train stations, airports, and tourist areas; airport counters typically charge higher fees, while banks and post offices offer lower rates. Additionally, large shopping malls and airport duty‑free shops have increasingly begun accepting Alipay—look for the corresponding logo to use it.
10. Voltage: The voltage in the UK is 230V. Please ensure your charger is compatible. The power plug has three square pins arranged in a triangular configuration. Exhibitors are advised to bring their own UK‑standard adapter plugs.
11. Please observe traffic safety. In the UK, vehicles drive on the left side of the road, the opposite of China, and speeds tend to be higher. When crossing the street, always use crosswalks and pay close attention to traffic signals.
12. Tipping is a common practice in the UK, though it is not mandatory; whether to tip and how much depends largely on the occasion and the quality of service. At mid-range to upscale restaurants, it’s customary to leave 10%–15% of the bill as a tip, while some fast-food or casual‑dining establishments do not require tipping. For taxis, drivers often round up the fare to the next whole pound as a tip.
13. Before doing anything in public, please line up if queuing is required. The British place great importance on personal space; when conversing with others, try to maintain a reasonable distance and avoid standing too close or making physical contact. In the UK, it is considered disrespectful to point at someone with your finger. The British regard elephants, peacocks, and black cats as unlucky symbols, while dark green is seen as an inauspicious color. Chrysanthemums and lilies are associated with funerals. The numbers “13” and “Friday” are also considered unlucky.
