Welcome Address

In late summer and early autumn, during the fragrant month of August, we will gather in Suzhou, a thousand-year-old ancient city, to jointly welcome the grand opening of the 2025 Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine “Belt and Road” Yangtze River Delta Rehabilitation Medicine Forum, the 2025 Yangtze River Delta Integrated Development Alliance Academic Conference, the 13th Jinling Rehabilitation Medicine Forum, and the 3rd Rehabilitation Equipment and Solutions Exhibition, REHACARE CHINA.

Suzhou, a city renowned worldwide as “a paradise on earth,” is not only a symbol of classical gardens and Wu culture but also a vanguard of China’s innovation-driven development. Today, as we gather here to explore the future of “cross-sectoral integration and smart rehabilitation,” we are both carrying forward Suzhou’s spirit of “respect for culture and wisdom, openness and inclusiveness” and putting into vivid practice the national strategy of Yangtze River Delta integration.

At present, the world is undergoing a new wave of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. The deep integration of technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, and 5G is ushering in unprecedented opportunities for rehabilitation medicine. Smart rehabilitation represents not only a technological breakthrough but also a profound commitment to enhancing the quality of human life. Through innovative applications—including intelligent assistive devices, telemedicine, digital therapeutics, and wearable technologies—we are redefining the boundaries of rehabilitation services: enabling individuals with functional impairments to regain their dignity, helping older adults embrace independent living, and offering hope to patients with chronic conditions.

As one of China’s most dynamic, open, and innovation‑driven regions, the Yangtze River Delta bears the mission of leading the nation and extending its influence globally in the field of smart rehabilitation. In recent years, the three provinces and one municipality have achieved remarkable results through policy coordination, resource sharing, and technological breakthroughs: Shanghai’s cutting‑edge R&D, Jiangsu’s high‑end manufacturing, Zhejiang’s digital ecosystem, and Anhui’s innovation incubation together form a “golden matrix” for the smart rehabilitation industry. Meanwhile, Suzhou, as a core city in the Yangtze River Delta, is leveraging its agglomeration advantages in biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and other sectors to accelerate the development of an innovation hub for smart rehabilitation.

This session of the conference is themed… “Connecting Intelligence, Caring for Every Home” To this end, the initiative will focus on three key areas: technological breakthroughs, exploring the clinical translation of technologies such as AI‑driven precision rehabilitation, brain–computer interfaces, and digital twins; industry integration, fostering cross‑sector collaboration among healthcare, technology, insurance, and elderly care; and inclusive access, establishing a smart rehabilitation service system that spans urban and rural areas and covers the entire life cycle.

We look forward to sparking intellectual exchange and forging a shared vision for action through keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and showcases of achievements, ensuring that the warmth of science and technology reaches every corner in need of rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation is not only vital to people’s well-being but also a reflection of a society’s level of civilization. Guided by the national strategies of “Healthy China 2030” and “Proactively Addressing Population Aging,” we now more than ever need to: harness the power of smart technologies to break down traditional barriers in resource allocation; foster collaborative, win-win partnerships to promote mutual recognition of standards and seamless data sharing across the Yangtze River Delta region; and place humanity at the center, ensuring that technology always serves human dignity and happiness.

Finally, drawing on the garden‑design wisdom of Suzhou’s classical gardens— “Recreating the universe within arm’s reach” In the pursuit of intelligent rehabilitation, we too need this kind of meticulous craftsmanship—“seeing the big picture through the small”—to address concrete challenges with technological innovation, build a holistic ecosystem through systems thinking, and bring warmth to countless families with humanistic care.
