Market Overview and Analysis

Demand-Driven: Fueling Market Expansion

As the largest market in Latin America, Brazil’s medical device sector serves a vast population of 213 million. According to Fitch Solutions’ 2022 forecast report, the Brazilian medical device market is widely regarded as promising, with an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.0% from 2021 to 2026, and its total market value projected to rise to US$5.9 billion. This robust growth is primarily driven by two key factors: First, there is the growing demand for high-quality medical equipment and services; second, the private health insurance market is booming, and government spending continues to rise. These factors collectively lay a solid foundation for the continued expansion of Brazil’s medical device market.

China leads Brazil’s trade, with local-currency transactions deepening cooperation.

According to relevant data, China is not only Brazil’s largest trading partner, but more than one-fifth of Brazil’s total imports come from China. , surpassing the United States to become the leading source. In 2022, China–Brazil bilateral trade reached US$171.49 billion (approximately RMB 1.2 trillion), up nearly 5% year on year, underscoring the strength and dynamism of their economic and trade ties. To further consolidate this cooperative foundation and facilitate bilateral trade, Brazil has reached an agreement with China to no longer rely on the U.S. dollar as an intermediary currency in trade settlements, opting instead for direct transactions in their respective national currencies. Brazil’s trade and investment promotion agency, ApexBrasil, expressed optimism, forecasting that this measure will effectively reduce transaction costs, further boost the expansion of bilateral trade, and create more favorable conditions for investment between the two countries.
