Medical Japan, the Japan International Medical Exhibition, is Japan’s largest comprehensive event for the medical and healthcare industries. The exhibition is organized by Reed Exhibitions Japan and enjoys the support of 110 government and healthcare industry organizations, including the Kansai Wide-Area Union, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Japan Federation of Medical Device Associations (JFMDA). Held annually in Tokyo and Osaka, the event comprises six specialized sub‑exhibitions.

Previous exhibition data
At the Medical Japan Tokyo 2023 exhibition, a total of 591 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions participated, attracting 16,016 professional visitors. Among them, 86.6% came from eastern Japan, 11.2% from central and western Japan, and the remaining 2.2% from other regions. In addition, the event featured 46 specialized conferences held concurrently.

02. A Booming Healthcare Market
I. The Japanese medical device market is substantial in size. As the trend of population aging continues to intensify, demand for medical equipment is also steadily increasing. Although Japan is a major manufacturer of medical products, there remains a demand for imports and contract manufacturing. According to official data, imported products account for approximately 54% of the Japanese medical market, while domestically produced goods make up the remaining 46%.
II. The severity of population aging has led to increased demand for the expansion and construction of new hospitals and elderly care facilities.
