Upon entering Japan, you must undergo immigration inspection and customs declaration. Cabin crew will distribute entry cards and customs declaration forms on the aircraft; please complete them accurately based on your circumstances. Alternatively, you can register an account in advance on the Visit Japan Web website, provide your personal details and travel itinerary, and save a screenshot of the generated QR code. Once at the airport, if you have items to declare, proceed through the red channel. After collecting your baggage, set aside any items requiring declaration for inspection. Passengers with no items to declare should use the green channel.
1. Bring your original passport, a valid visa, and your flight itinerary.
2. Bring an ample supply of brochures, posters, and other materials.
3. Mobile phone (with international roaming enabled), charger, power bank, and travel adapter.
4. Bring your toiletries and necessary clothing, and pack some of your regular medications—such as gastrointestinal remedies, allergy pills, fever reducers, and pain relievers—for emergencies.
5. Please do not place computers, batteries, or power banks in your checked baggage.
6. Japan is one hour ahead of China; the time in Japan is Beijing Time plus one hour.
7. Currency: Japan’s official currency is the Japanese yen (JPY). It’s recommended to exchange an appropriate amount of yen in China before your trip. 1 RMB ≈ 20.63 JPY (recent exchange rate, for reference only). When traveling to Japan, you may carry Japanese yen, but the total amount must not exceed 1 million JPY; amounts exceeding this limit require a customs declaration. For shopping, you can use UnionPay cards or credit cards bearing the Visa or Mastercard logo. Before you depart, it’s advisable to exchange some cash into yen in China, or withdraw yen at Japanese convenience stores using a UnionPay card. In most Japanese department stores and drugstores, WeChat Pay and Alipay are widely accepted.
8. In Osaka, March temperatures typically range from 13°C to 21°C, with an average daytime high of around 21°C. It’s recommended to wear comfortable, lightweight clothing such as single-layer cotton or linen shortsuits, T-shirts, thin denim shirts and pants, casual attire, or business suits. For business events or more formal meetings and visits, be sure to bring formal attire.
9. Voltage: Japan uses 110V; please ensure your charger is compatible. The power plugs are either two‑prong flat pins or two flat pins with a round grounding pin. Cylindrical plugs and three‑flat‑pin plugs cannot be used in Japan. Exhibitors are advised to bring their own adapters.
10. When using chopsticks in Japan, do not point at people, do not stick your chopsticks upright in a bowl of rice, do not pass food directly from one pair of chopsticks to another, and refrain from tapping your chopsticks against bowls or plates. Smoking is prohibited in most indoor public spaces, including restaurants and bars. Outdoors, you should also respect designated smoking areas. When visiting shrines and temples, follow local customs, such as washing your hands and rinsing your mouth before entering the shrine and removing your shoes before stepping inside.
