As the tides of the Bosphorus surge back and forth between Europe and Asia, and as the millennial echoes of Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire still murmur beneath its domes, this one‑of‑a‑kind ancient capital—spanning two continents—redefines the pulse of the world in a new guise.

From April 15 to 18, 2027, the 34th Turkey International Medical Devices, Diagnostic Laboratories, Pharmaceuticals and Rehabilitation Exhibition (EXPOMED EURASIA) will open at the Tüyap International Fair Center in Istanbul. This is more than just an industry gathering—it is a cross‑Eurasian commercial hub. From the Balkans to the Caucasus, from North Africa to the Middle East, and from the Black Sea coast to the shores of the Caspian Sea, purchasing power from over 130 countries will converge here, drawing the attention of tens of thousands of industry professionals.

A medical trade rendezvous spanning Eurasia

EXPOMED EURASIA, with a history spanning more than three decades, is Turkey’s only and the largest medical trade fair in the Eurasian region. For thirty-three years, this prestigious event has remained uninterrupted, consistently dedicated to fostering high-quality development in the healthcare sector across regions including the Balkans, North Africa, the Middle East, Russia, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. In 2027, the 34th edition of the exhibition will once again take place, continuing this chronicle of medical trade that spans Europe and Asia.

The exhibition covers the entire medical industry chain—medical electronic devices, surgical and emergency care, medical consumables, orthopedics and rehabilitation, laboratory biotechnology, hospital construction and digital healthcare, as well as dentistry, ophthalmology, and OTC nutritional products—spanning a total exhibition area of over 48,000 square meters. and especially A new Expovet pet healthcare thematic exhibition area has been added. , creating a dedicated platform for commerce and networking in the veterinary and pet healthcare industries.

The Trade Torrent Behind the Numbers

At the 33rd EXPOMED EURASIA in 2026, centered around three key themes—“Manufacturing‑Driven Healthcare,” “Digitalization of Healthcare,” and “Local Manufacturing”—the event delivered a remarkable outcome:

  • 527 exhibiting companies have gathered in Istanbul.

  • Exhibitors from 25 countries compete on the same stage.

  • 19,308 industry professionals attended for business discussions.

  • The purchasing power of 134 countries converges here.

  • 4,208 international visitors traveled across mountains and seas to attend the event.

Notably, China has more than 180 participating companies, ranking first among all countries in terms of the number of exhibitors. EXPOMED EURASIA has become a strategic gateway for Chinese companies seeking to tap into the emerging markets of Eurasia.

Why attend this trade show?

A single exhibition hall, reaching markets in dozens of countries.

Istanbul straddles Europe and Asia, serving as a natural crossroads for the healthcare markets of the Balkans, the Commonwealth of Independent States, North Africa, and the Middle East. Turkey has waived visa requirements for buyers from 28 countries, including those in the Middle East and Russia, making it even more convenient for purchasers to attend. With a single participation, you can access the full‑channel trade network spanning the European Union, Russia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Turkey is home to more than 5,000 specialized medical device importers, and its products can be re‑exported to dozens of neighboring countries.

The market is a blue ocean: 85% reliant on imports, with unstoppable growth momentum.

Turkey’s medical device market has maintained a steady annual growth rate of 12%–14%, with the market size surpassing US$5 billion in 2024. Due to limitations in domestic production capacity, the country relies on imports for as much as 85% of its medical devices, with particularly strong demand for imaging equipment, patient monitors, IVD reagents, rehabilitation devices, and consumables. Products bearing CE certification can gain rapid market access.

Policy Equals Opportunity: Procurement Benefits Continue to Unfold

Turkey continues to ramp up investment in the healthcare sector, achieving high universal health insurance coverage and strong demand for medical equipment procurement. Two major initiatives—the modernization and replacement of aging equipment in public hospitals and the expansion and upgrading of primary-care facilities—are advancing in tandem, driving sustained demand through centralized tendering and procurement processes and creating stable opportunities for exhibiting companies to secure government‑led contracts. At the same time, the government provides special exhibition subsidies to enterprises participating in international trade fairs, and eligible imported medical devices are also entitled to preferential tax policies.

China’s golden ticket for businesses

Chinese medical device products boast a distinct cost‑performance advantage, with nearly 200 Chinese companies participating collectively for many years in a row. In the fields of consumables, IVD, dentistry, and rehabilitation, their order conversion rates are among the highest in the industry. Turkey is situated at the crossroads of the Belt and Road’s golden corridor—China’s exports of medical devices to participating countries have consistently grown at a rate exceeding the overall average, with Turkey serving as a pivotal stop along this route.
