Local Living Tips

Time difference: Singapore is in the same time zone as China.

Weather and Recommendations: Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate, with high temperatures and humidity year-round. In September, average temperatures range from 24°C to 31°C. It’s recommended to wear light, breathable summer clothing; bring a thin jacket for cooler indoor air-conditioned spaces. Pack an umbrella when you go out, and take precautions against sun exposure and mosquitoes.

Voltage/Outlet: Voltage: 230V, 50 Hz. Uses a UK‑style three‑pin plug; please bring your own adapter.

Communication method: Mobile phones with international roaming enabled can be used in Singapore. To call China from abroad: for landlines, dial 0086–area code–phone number; for mobiles, dial 0086 followed by the mobile number.

Currency: Singapore’s official currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD), with 1 SGD equivalent to approximately 5.3 RMB. You can exchange currency in advance within China, or at local hotels and airports. Major shopping malls widely accept UnionPay, Visa, and Mastercard for card payments, and some merchants also support Alipay.

Customs and traditions:

  • Tip: Singaporean bills typically include a 10% service charge, so tipping is usually not necessary.

  • Transportation: Singapore drives on the left side of the road. Please cross at pedestrian signals.
