Exhibition Overview
Almaty, nestled at the northern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, has long been a vital stop along the ancient Silk Road. Thirty-four years ago, Kazakhstan declared its independence here; today, it has emerged as a central hub for medical trade in Central Asia. From May 19 to 21, 2027, the 32nd Kazakhstan International Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Exhibition (KIHE 2027) will open in this city. — This is the official, efficient, and reliable channel for Chinese healthcare companies to enter the Central Asian market.
Founded in 1993, KIHE has cultivated a deep-rooted reputation over three decades as the largest and longest-running international medical exhibition in Central Asia. It is UFI‑certified and enjoys strong official backing from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Health, the Almaty City Government, the Eurasian Medical Association, and other key stakeholders. In 2027, the event will be held concurrently with PharmaTECH—dedicated to pharmaceutical equipment—VisionCare—focused on optics and ophthalmology—and Laboratory Equipment—centered on laboratory instruments—creating a comprehensive platform that spans the entire medical‑device, pharmaceutical, ophthalmic, and laboratory sectors. The four thematic sections cover imaging equipment, surgical instruments, IVD diagnostics, emergency and orthopedic care, pharmaceutical raw materials, pharmaceutical machinery, and hospital information systems, offering an all‑in‑one showcase of the industry’s full value chain.

Kazakhstan’s GDP exceeds US$280 billion, with per capita income at US$13,000, and its economic and trade cooperation with China rests on a solid foundation. The Khorgos and Alashankou border crossings operate efficiently, while the national primary pharmaceutical distributor and provincial public procurement channels are both concentrated in Almaty, directly serving the entire territory of Kazakhstan as well as Kyrgyzstan and northern Uzbekistan.

Eurasian Economic Union: Registered in one country, valid across five countries.
The EAEU’s unified registration and certification system provides a single certificate that covers Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, serving a market of 200 million consumers.
03
90% reliant on imports, with a substantial market gap.
Kazakhstan relies on imports for 90% of its medical devices, and 50% of the country’s healthcare facilities are over 40 years old and in need of modernization. The “2024–2030 Healthcare Infrastructure Development Plan” outlines the construction of 34 priority projects with a total of 11,440 new hospital beds, driving a concentrated surge in demand for medical equipment procurement.
04
China is the largest source of imports.
In the first half of 2025, China–Kazakhstan pharmaceutical trade increased by 21% year on year. Chinese products enjoy a clear cost‑performance advantage, and the local public procurement system highly values Made in China, with the substitution rate continuing to rise.
