Medtec Southeast Asia: International Exhibition on Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Technology in Southeast Asia
Medtec Southeast Asia
Queen Sirikit National Convention Center
July 8–10, 2026
Informa Markets
Exhibition Introduction
Connecting innovators, manufacturers, and corporate partners within Southeast Asia’s medical technology ecosystem. The Medtec Southeast Asia International Exhibition for Medical Device Design and Manufacturing is the region’s premier specialized trade show. As one of the flagship events of International Healthcare Week, it is held concurrently with the Asia International Medical Device Exhibition (WHX Bangkok), the Asia International Laboratory Instruments and Equipment Exhibition (WHXLabsBangkok), and the CPHI South East Asia, creating a powerful platform that brings together the medical device, healthcare, laboratory, and pharmaceutical industries. The exhibition precisely targets key stakeholders—including finished‑device manufacturers, hospital‑equipment producers, procurement professionals, R&D and technical experts, distributors and agents, manufacturers, and quality‑control specialists—providing exhibitors with highly efficient networking opportunities.
Market Overview
Key Current Trends in the Southeast Asian Medical Device Market:
Outstanding growth potential: Southeast Asia is one of the fastest-growing regions in the global medical device market, with its market size projected to reach USD 30–100 billion by 2025 and an annual growth rate of 10–15%. Among these, high-value consumables are expanding at over 70%, endoscopes at 43.8%, and cardiovascular intervention products at more than 10%. Thailand’s biomaterials market is growing at an annual rate of 12.1%, while Vietnam’s biomaterials market is expanding at 18.7% per year. High import dependency: The supply chain for medical raw materials—such as ABS plastic and medical-grade silicone—is 85% reliant on China, Japan, and Europe and North America. Concentrated international corporate presence: Leading global medical companies—including Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Siemens Healthineers, Philips Healthcare, GE Healthcare, and Abbott—have established manufacturing facilities across Southeast Asia, focusing on core product categories such as cardiac pacemakers, orthopedic devices, medical imaging equipment, and single-use medical consumables. As a result, the regional industrial ecosystem is steadily maturing.
Market Development Trends:
AI in Healthcare: AI‑assisted diagnostics and intelligent surgical systems are becoming standard, with the market share expected to exceed 20% of the overall medical device market. Regional Regulatory Harmonization: The ASEAN Medical Device Committee is advancing standardization, paving the way for a single registration pathway. Surging Demand Across Niche Segments: Chronic disease management and elderly care—driven by an accelerating aging population—are seeing robust growth in demand for non‑invasive blood glucose monitors, smart insulin pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, and advanced prosthetics. Precision medicine and high‑end equipment: Although domestic production of premium imaging systems such as CT and MRI accounts for only about 10% in countries like Indonesia, there remains substantial room for localization; R&D spending on 3D‑printed custom implants and bioabsorbable materials exceeds 8% of industry revenue. Primary Care and Innovative Consumables: Cost‑effective patient monitoring devices—including pulse oximeters and multi‑parameter monitors—and rapid diagnostic tools for tropical diseases continue to enjoy steady demand. Malaysia holds over 60% of the global medical glove market, while research and development in high‑end, precision catheters remains vigorous.
Competitive Advantages of Chinese Enterprises:
High cost-effectiveness: Our products are priced at only 60–80% of comparable offerings from Europe, the U.S., and Japan, while delivering world-class performance that aligns with Southeast Asia’s purchasing power. We enjoy significant advantages across the entire value chain, with cost-control capabilities 30% better than those of local Southeast Asian manufacturers, and individual plant capacities that can be 5–10 times greater than those of peer facilities in the region.
Technology and Quality: The sector has successfully transitioned from traditional low‑value consumables to high‑end equipment and high‑value consumables. Independently developed cutting‑edge imaging systems and minimally invasive surgical instruments have been adopted by top hospitals in Singapore, Malaysia, and other countries, with some companies obtaining EU CE and U.S. FDA certifications. Customized Innovation: In response to Southeast Asia’s humid, hot climate and uneven distribution of medical resources, the industry has developed monitoring devices that withstand high temperatures and humidity, as well as portable diagnostic tools. Modular designs facilitate maintenance and align with the needs of primary healthcare settings. AI‑assisted diagnostics and telemedicine solutions help address shortages in medical resources.
