Exhibition Introduction

Medlab Middle East has been rebranded as WHX Labs Dubai. Following a comprehensive upgrade, WHX Labs Dubai will build on Medlab Middle East’s more than 20 years of success, connecting over 500,000 healthcare professionals worldwide.
On February 13, local time, the four-day WHX Labs Dubai 2026 concluded successfully at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Coinciding with the brand’s 25th anniversary, the event was held in tandem with WHX Dubai at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), creating a dual‑venue collaboration that together delivered a premier global gathering for the healthcare industry. With “Innovation Driving the Future of Laboratories” as its central theme, WHX Labs Dubai 2026 showcased cutting-edge advancements across in vitro diagnostics, smart laboratories, precision medicine, and other key areas. At the exhibition, leading international companies joined national pavilions from China, Germany, the United States, and more, presenting a portfolio of groundbreaking innovations that not only align closely with the practical needs of healthcare systems at varying stages of development but also offer diverse, actionable pathways to enhance laboratory efficiency, elevate service quality, and upgrade diagnostic capabilities worldwide.
In 2027, WHX Labs Dubai and WHX Dubai will merge, enabling resource sharing and customer‑base collaboration to create a more concentrated, more professional one-stop platform for business matchmaking.

Market Overview

middle The Middle East overall market
> The Middle East market has become a key growth driver for Chinese medical device exports. By 2025, China’s medical device exports to the Middle East are projected to reach US$3.484 billion; although the growth rate lags behind some of the fastest‑growing regions, the overall trend remains steady. Among sub‑sectors, in vitro diagnostics (IVD) stands out with particularly strong expansion: in the first half of 2025, China exported IVD instruments worth approximately US$152 million to the Middle East, up about 43.8% year over year, while IVD reagent exports totaled around US$88 million, reflecting a year‑on‑year increase of roughly 23.3%. Within the Gulf Cooperation Council region, the United Arab Emirates is the fastest‑growing IVD market, leading the Gulf in growth momentum. This robust expansion is largely driven by government‑led large‑scale screening initiatives—such as nationwide diabetes screening—and a surge in demand for chronic disease management.
> The United Arab Emirates has launched the UAE National Wellbeing Strategy 2031, setting digital health, precision medicine, and preventive healthcare as its core priorities, with explicit support for the implementation of in vitro diagnostics and smart laboratory technologies. In fiscal year 2025, allocations for healthcare and community preventive services total AED 5.745 billion, accounting for 8% of the federal budget. By 2029, national healthcare spending is projected to reach AED 151 billion, with laboratory infrastructure development and IVD equipment procurement serving as key investment pillars. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plans to invest US$65 billion in upgrading healthcare infrastructure, aiming to build 290 new hospitals and 2,300 primary care centers.
> The World Health Organization has designated the Middle East as one of the global hotspots for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, resulting in strong demand among hospitals in the region for upgrading or acquiring new medical and diagnostic equipment. Meanwhile, the accelerating aging of the population is driving sustained growth in demand for diagnostics related to age‑related conditions.
Regional Radiation in the United Arab Emirates
> The United Arab Emirates is not a single end‑consumer market; rather, it serves as a cross‑regional trade, distribution, and localized production hub for the Middle East, with reach extending to three major core regions: North Africa, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.
> North African countries have limited healthcare budgets, and a significant share of mid-range IVDs, basic imaging equipment, and routine laboratory instruments rely on re‑export through the United Arab Emirates. Chinese manufacturers can leverage Dubai’s local distribution channels to capture bulk orders in the region.
> South Asian distributors are based in Dubai for procurement and, leveraging local UAE compliance credentials, complete pre‑registration reviews before routing products to various countries across South Asia.
> The Southeast Asian Muslim market exhibits a high degree of convergence with Middle Eastern consumer and healthcare regulatory standards. Major Southeast Asian medical distributors maintain permanent offices in Dubai to source products, simultaneously introducing diagnostic equipment that complies with halal requirements and Middle Eastern public health standards. Meanwhile, the UAE’s 2031 Digital Health Strategy—its technical frameworks and laboratory‑construction models—are being leveraged to support the development of newly established private hospitals across Southeast Asia.
Belt and Road Initiative
> The vast majority of Middle Eastern countries are key partners along the Belt and Road Initiative. The China–Arab Free Trade Agreement continues to be refined, with tariff reductions on medical device imports and streamlined customs clearance procedures. Chinese medical enterprises are encouraged to collaborate with their Middle Eastern counterparts in establishing medical industrial parks and joint R&D centers for in vitro diagnostics. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have designated special industrial zones, offering land and tax incentives to support technology transfer and localized production.
> Key projects along the Belt and Road in the Middle East: Several Middle Eastern countries are building new comprehensive hospitals, national-level public health laboratories, and chronic disease screening centers, with government procurement contracts prioritizing suppliers from partner nations. Simultaneously, multiple Middle Eastern countries are advancing initiatives in genetic testing and precision diagnostics—such as the UAE’s population-wide genome‑sequencing program and Saudi Arabia’s nationwide chronic disease screening project—both of which align with the strengths of Chinese IVD, molecular diagnostics, and early‑cancer‑screening companies. Under the Belt and Road framework for medical cooperation, Chinese enterprises can participate in national public health data‑management systems and laboratory infrastructure projects, establishing long‑term, stable business models that integrate equipment supply, technical services, and local co‑development.
