Exhibition Introduction
During the 2025 exhibition, it was announced that Medlab Middle East would be rebranded as WHX Labs Dubai. Following a comprehensive upgrade, WHX Labs Dubai will build on Medlab Middle East’s more than 20 years of success, connecting over 500,000 healthcare professionals worldwide.
On February 13, local time, the four-day WHX Labs Dubai 2026 concluded successfully at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). Coinciding with the brand’s 25th anniversary, the event was held in tandem with WHX Dubai, which took place concurrently at the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC), creating a dual‑venue collaboration that together delivered a premier global gathering for the healthcare industry.
At the 2026 exhibition, more than 35,000 medical laboratory professionals from over 184 countries and regions gathered in Dubai, while over 850 exhibitors showcased cutting-edge innovations, together creating the annual pinnacle event for technological breakthroughs, resource networking, and intellectual exchange in the global medical laboratory sector. The Chinese delegation made a powerful debut with more than 240 companies and an exhibition space exceeding 4,700 square meters; for the first time, a star-studded lineup of top-tier hospitals joined forces with industry players to go overseas, marking a qualitative leap from “exhibitor” to “rule‑setter.” This ecosystem‑driven international expansion is reshaping the landscape: the delegation simultaneously hosted a global strategy forum on diagnostic equipment and organized visits to leading international healthcare institutions, as Middle Eastern markets actively seek end‑to‑end solutions—ranging from equipment procurement to AI‑powered diagnostic technologies and comprehensive training programs.
In 2026, WHX Labs Dubai will center on the theme “Innovation Driving the Future of Laboratory Development,” comprehensively showcasing the latest technological breakthroughs in areas such as in vitro diagnostics, smart laboratories, and precision medicine. At the exhibition, leading international companies will join national pavilions from China, Germany, the United States, and other countries, jointly presenting a series of groundbreaking innovations that not only precisely address the practical needs of healthcare systems at varying stages of development but also offer diverse, actionable pathways for enhancing laboratory efficiency, boosting performance, and upgrading diagnostic service capabilities worldwide.
Market Overview
Middle The Middle East market has emerged as a key growth engine for Chinese medical device exports. By 2025, China’s medical device exports to the Middle East are projected to reach US$2.065 billion, up 6.63% year over year. Although this growth rate lags behind some of the fastest‑growing regions, the overall trend remains steady. The market structure exhibits a pronounced head‑tail effect: Saudi Arabia, the largest export destination, accounted for US$532 million in exports, a year‑on‑year increase of 11.32%, serving as the primary driver of the Middle Eastern market; the United Arab Emirates recorded US$495 million, down slightly by 0.41% year over year; and Israel posted US$334 million, with a robust year‑on‑year growth of 19.75%, placing it among the top performers.
Among the various sub-sectors of medical devices, in vitro diagnostics stands out as one of the most prominent, serving as a true frontrunner in the UAE market. Across the Gulf Cooperation Council region, the United Arab Emirates boasts the fastest-growing IVD market, leading the Gulf in growth rate. This expansion is driven primarily by government‑led large‑scale screening initiatives—such as population‑wide diabetes screening—and a surge in demand for chronic disease management.
The UAE market is no longer content with mere equipment procurement and sales. Leading institutions in the UAE increasingly seek partners capable of participating in high-level design, technology transfer, and localized production. Through WHX Labs Dubai, companies can establish connections not only with local distributors but also with indigenous industry leaders, shifting from a purely transactional model to one of deep, localized integration.
The UAE has unveiled the “UAE National Wellbeing Strategy 2031,” which sets digital health, precision medicine, and preventive healthcare as its core priorities, with explicit support for the implementation of in‑vitro diagnostics and smart laboratory technologies. For fiscal year 2025, allocations for healthcare and community preventive services total AED 5.745 billion, accounting for 8% of the federal budget. By 2029, national healthcare spending is projected to reach AED 151 billion, with laboratory infrastructure development and IVD equipment procurement serving as key investment pillars.
The World Health Organization has designated the Middle East as one of the global hotspots for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, resulting in strong demand among hospitals in the region for upgrading or acquiring new medical devices and diagnostic equipment. Meanwhile, the accelerating aging of the population is driving sustained growth in demand for diagnostics related to age‑associated conditions.
The United Arab Emirates has launched the world’s most comprehensive population-wide genomic program, providing population-specific datasets to support precision IVD technologies such as molecular diagnostics and early cancer screening. At the same time, policies encourage companies to integrate with the genomic initiative, fostering the convergence of precision medicine and IVD technologies.
