Exhibition Introduction
The Uzbekistan International Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition, established in 1995, is one of the earliest trade shows in Uzbekistan and the only medical exhibition in the country accredited by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI). As a renowned professional pharmaceutical and medical event in Central Asia, it has significantly advanced the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors in Uzbekistan and throughout the region.
Development has positioned Central Asia as one of the markets with the greatest growth potential. The exhibition is held concurrently with the Uzbekistan Dental Show. Since its inception, it has enjoyed strong support from the Republic of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Public Health, the Uzbekistan Dental Association, the State Agency for Pharmaceutical and Medical Technologies, and the Tashkent City Government.
The Uzbekistan International Medical and Pharmaceutical Exhibition stands out for its scale, the diversity of exhibitors and attendees, and the number of leading brands represented. Since its inception, more than 3,000 companies have participated, with exhibitors hailing from nearly every continent—Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa—while visitors are primarily from Uzbekistan and neighboring CIS countries.
Market Overview
1. The Republic of Uzbekistan is located in central Central Asia and is renowned as the “Pearl of Central Asia.” It shares borders with Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Uzbekistan is a celebrated ancient nation along the Silk Road and has maintained longstanding historical ties with China through this historic trade route.
2. Uzbekistan has a total population of 37.54 million and a total area of 448,900 square kilometers. As of 2025, the country has 2.37 physicians per thousand people, slightly above the WHO’s minimum standard of 2.3 per thousand, but the distribution remains highly uneven in practice.
3. According to incomplete statistics, Uzbekistan currently has 8,322 medical and disease-prevention institutions, including 1,018 hospitals, 3,825 outpatient clinics, and 3,479 rural health facilities. Medical resources are heavily concentrated in the capital, Tashkent, while remote regions—such as Karakalpakstan—face acute shortages of equipment and qualified personnel; some key hospitals struggle to meet 85% of their surgical demand.
4. The “2022–2026 Healthcare Reform Plan” has been fully implemented, with the government aiming to raise healthcare spending as a share of GDP from 4.1% in 2023 to 6% by 2026. In the 2025 national budget, allocations for healthcare amount to 41.3 trillion soums (approximately US$3.2 billion), primarily earmarked for upgrading medical equipment, constructing new clinics, and improving the health insurance system. Under the reform plan, Uzbekistan plans to build 300 modern clinics by 2026. These facilities will be constructed and equipped in accordance with internationally advanced standards and will be distributed across all regions of the country, particularly in remote areas with limited access.
5. In 2024, China’s exports of medical devices to Ukraine reached €820 million, accounting for 10.3% of Ukraine’s total imports; the market share of high-end equipment—such as Mindray ultrasound systems—rose from 5% to 12%.
