Exhibition Introduction
Guided by the exhibition philosophy of “win-win cooperation and putting life first,” the Indonesia International Emergency Disaster Reduction and Rescue Expo, co-organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission for the Promotion of International Trade, GMI Expo Group, and Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co., Ltd., will focus on international cooperation and exchange within the safety and emergency‑response sector. The expo will be held across Southeast Asian countries and among the Pan-Pacific Blue Partnership nations, inviting Chinese enterprises to compete in the global market under the banner of “Made in China.” It aims to create a comprehensive service platform that brings together the display of disaster prevention, mitigation, and emergency‑rescue technologies and related services; fosters industry dialogue and international collaboration; and facilitates user experience and commercial transactions for both supply and demand sides.
During the 2025 exhibition, the organizers meticulously curated a series of concurrent events—including forums, technology roadshows, and business matchmaking sessions—to meet the needs of exhibitors and visitors. These high‑quality side events featured the China–Indonesia Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum—“Building Together, Reaping Success, and Moving Forward into the Future”—as well as corporate technology roadshows and an International Business Matching Fair (Indonesia edition), among others. In addition to enriching the EDRR Indonesia Emergency Response Exhibition, these activities provided enterprises with an efficient and convenient platform for business networking and collaboration.
The 2026 Indonesia International Emergency Exhibition will be held once again from August 12 to 14, 2026, at the Jakarta International Expo Center in Indonesia.
Market Overview
Indonesia is located in Southeast Asia, commanding key international trade shipping lanes such as the Strait of Malacca, the Sunda Strait, and the Lombok Strait. It serves as a central transportation hub in Southeast Asia, serving the vast ASEAN market and possessing significant geostrategic importance.
Official data released in November 2025 show that Indonesia’s total population stands at 285.7 million, with 25% under the age of 15, 65% aged 15–64—representing the working-age population—and only 10% aged 65 or older. This demographic profile indicates that Indonesia continues to boast a large labor force, offering significant potential for economic growth. As the world’s fourth most populous country, Indonesia accounts for more than 30% of ASEAN’s total consumer spending, with urban residents averaging $16 per day in consumption—comparable to that of China’s third- and fourth-tier cities. This domestically driven economic model positions Indonesia as a pivotal hub linking ASEAN’s internal market with global supply chains.
In 2013, China and Indonesia established a comprehensive strategic partnership. With 2025 marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, their bilateral ties have evolved into a cooperative framework anchored by five pillars: politics, economy, culture, maritime affairs, and security. Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) entered into force in January 2023, the resilience of bilateral trade has remained pronounced: in the first half of 2025, trade volume reached US$70.8 billion, surging 15.5% year on year and sustaining a robust growth trajectory. China has remained Indonesia’s largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years; in 2024, Indonesia’s exports to China accounted for 23.6% of its total national exports, while imports from China represented 31.1%. In the first half of 2025, these shares further increased to 22.5% and 34.7%, respectively, underscoring the deepening integration of supply chains.
China is earnestly implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief philosophy of “two persistences and three transformations”: upholding prevention as the priority while integrating prevention, resistance, and rescue; unifying routine disaster reduction with emergency response; and shifting from post‑disaster relief to pre‑disaster prevention, from addressing single hazard types to comprehensive risk reduction, and from minimizing disaster losses to mitigating disaster risks. In doing so, China continues to advance the modernization of its emergency management system and capabilities. Hosting the Indonesia International Emergency Expo will effectively establish a platform for regional cooperation and technological exchange in emergency management, helping to enhance natural disaster prevention and emergency response capacities across Southeast Asia, minimize disaster‑related losses, and inject strong momentum into improving the well‑being of peoples along the Belt and Road and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
