SALMED
Poznań International Fairgrounds
May 19–20, 2026
Poznań International Fair Ltd.
Exhibition Introduction
The Poland Medical Fair (SALMED), first held in 1973, is Poland’s only comprehensive medical trade show. Combining a rich array of exhibits with an extensive program of supporting events, it ranks among the largest medical‑industry exhibitions in Central and Eastern Europe and is one of the key exhibitions recommended by the Polish Exhibition Industry Chamber. The 2026 edition will mark its 30th anniversary, bringing together all relevant professionals in the healthcare sector to showcase and exchange the latest products, technologies, and solutions. Among the many medical‑device trade shows worldwide, SALMED in Poznań stands as an indispensable professional platform in Central Europe—a highly regarded event favored by both exhibitors and buyers. Participating in the fair helps companies forge lasting business relationships and integrate cutting‑edge innovations into the day-to-day operations of healthcare institutions.
In 2024, the event welcomed 180 exhibiting companies from 11 countries, and the three-day fair attracted over 6,000 industry professionals. Among them, 20 exhibitors were from China, providing an excellent platform for domestic enterprises to expand into the Central and Eastern European markets.
In 2026, the exhibition will cover a broader range of knowledge areas, placing greater emphasis on substantive content, practical workshops, and expert-led discussions.
Market Overview
☆Poland is Poland is one of the largest markets for medical devices in Central and Eastern Europe. Situated at the heart of Europe, it is the fifth-largest country in the European Union, with a population of 38.14 million. As the region’s biggest economy and most populous nation, Poland also boasts the largest medical device market in Central and Eastern Europe. Strategically located along the Belt and Road Initiative, Poland serves as part of a trans-European transport corridor, making it exceptionally convenient for conducting business.
☆ As one of the fastest-growing healthcare markets in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland is witnessing a steady increase in demand for medical equipment. The Polish government plans to invest €1.2 billion over the next three years to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure, build 23 new state-of-the-art hospitals, and prioritize the procurement of imaging equipment—such as CT and MRI scanners—and rehabilitation devices. This initiative has already generated procurement orders exceeding €500 million, creating a favorable window for Chinese companies to participate in public hospital tenders.
☆ As the second-largest medical device market after the United States, the European Union has long been one of the top destinations for global medical device manufacturers seeking to expand overseas. Following a period of market saturation in the post‑pandemic era, the EU medical device market reversed its year‑on‑year decline in 2024 and returned to positive growth. Among EU countries, Poland posted the fastest growth; in 2024, China exported medical devices worth RMB 6.037 billion to Poland, up 22.43% year over year.
☆ Poland is home to roughly 400–500 medical device companies, 80% of which are small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 10 employees. These firms are predominantly concentrated in the mid- and low‑end segments, with R&D spending accounting for only 2%–3% of revenue (compared with the EU average of 5%–8%). A lack of core technologies leaves the country entirely dependent on imports for high‑end medical equipment. Meanwhile, an aging population—where those aged 65 and over comprise 18% of the total—has driven a sharp surge in demand for chronic disease management and rehabilitation devices. However, domestic manufacturers face lengthy production‑expansion cycles, averaging two to three years, making it difficult to keep pace with rising demand; as a result, import substitution remains the primary means of bridging the supply gap.
