Exhibition Introduction

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA is organized by Messe Düsseldorf (Asia) and has been held biennially since 1997, alternating between Thailand and Singapore. The event in Thailand is known as MEDICAL FAIR THAILAND. Over the years, it has steadily grown to become Southeast Asia’s most internationally influential trade fair for the healthcare industry.

MEDICAL FAIR ASIA focuses on equipment and supplies for hospitals, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and rehabilitation, offering Chinese exhibitors premier business opportunities to expand into the Southeast Asian market. As the region’s leading medical trade show, MEDICAL FAIR ASIA provides a platform for manufacturers of medical devices and instruments, medical technology companies, and healthcare service providers to showcase their latest products and services, while also enabling industry professionals to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies and innovations. With a broad reach, the event attracts high‑quality visitors from Southeast Asia’s healthcare sector and holds particular appeal for buyers from Asia, Africa, and Europe. Participating in this exhibition helps broaden sales channels, facilitates face-to-face interactions with international healthcare professionals, and fosters valuable business relationships—making it an invaluable opportunity for Chinese medical device manufacturers seeking to expand into global markets.

Singapore is a city-state and island nation in Southeast Asia, located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, wielding significant influence and serving as a powerful gateway to the Southeast Asian market. MEDICAL FAIR ASIA 2026 is expected to attract more than 1,000 exhibitors from 45 countries, along with over 14,000 industry professionals and buyers. By participating, Chinese exhibitors will have the opportunity to engage with medical device industry experts from around the world, expand their business networks, and tap into new markets.

Market Overview

Population and Demand-Driven
Singapore is one of the world’s busiest maritime chokepoints, linking the Indian Ocean and the Pacific. As of June 2025, its population stood at 6.11 million, up 1.2% year on year, with those aged 60 and over accounting for 20.7%, marking its entry into an aging society. The rehabilitation needs of elderly patients following joint replacement surgery are directly driving increased procurement of rehabilitation robots, electric nursing beds, and other related equipment.
A “small but refined” market landscape
In 2025, Singapore’s medical device market is expected to be approximately US$1.5 billion. Although smaller in size than those of Indonesia and Thailand, Singapore boasts per capita spending of about US$260—far above the Southeast Asian average of just US$50—making it the region’s most concentrated hub for high-end demand.
Import‑driven supply and demand structure
In Singapore, 85% of medical devices are imported, and supply sources exhibit diversification:
United States and Germany: dominate the high-end equipment market;
Japan: Supplies precision diagnostic devices;
China: Primarily supplying mid- to low-end medical consumables (such as syringes and dressings) and basic monitoring equipment, thereby filling the gap in cost-effective procurement within Singapore’s public healthcare system.
Global-level logistics hub
Singapore is one of the few countries worldwide that boasts both GDP‑certified airports and ports, with logistics capabilities precisely tailored to meet the transportation needs of high‑value and cold‑chain medical devices. In 2024, ASEAN’s medical device trade transiting through Singapore reached US$3.2 billion, accounting for 38% of the region’s total; companies establishing warehousing hubs in Singapore can deliver to key ASEAN markets such as Thailand and Vietnam within 48 hours.
The Ripple Effect of Medical Tourism
Singapore’s medical tourism is centered on “high‑cost, high‑complexity procedures,” with a particular focus on cardiac surgery and precision cancer treatments, directly driving demand for advanced imaging equipment and surgical robots. As the leading medical tourism hub in Southeast Asia—welcoming over one million visitors annually—its world‑class healthcare infrastructure has become the benchmark for neighboring countries. In an effort to capture a share of the medical tourism market, nations across the region are upgrading their facilities to match Singapore’s standards, further boosting regional demand for cutting‑edge medical devices.
